Description

AquaKeramik Catfish Tube Clay Tube Ø 20-25 mm

With these small clay tubes you offer some animals of the genera Rineloricaria and Hemiloricaria, the so-called witch catfish, an excellent hiding place. The smaller species also use them as spawning tubes.

These tubes are also used in the breeding of loricariids. In small rearing boxes such as the numerous variants of the hanging tank, they offer the offspring a possibility to withdraw. These tubes are quickly and unproblematically accepted by the still young animals, especially during the time of growing up a good possibility to support the animals.

Also, plants such as Anubias nana can be tied up very well on all clay tubes.

We use stoneware clay for the production of our clay articles, which can be high fired and contains a varying proportion of fireclay depending on the product.

On the one hand, this makes our tubes very stable and durable. On the other hand, this means that the surfaces are never completely smooth, which provides an excellent basis for surface growth, which in turn is very readily grazed by catfish or shrimp.

This slightly rough surface of the cave also benefits the adhesive properties of most fish eggs without damaging the eggs.

The eggs adhere better to the cave wall, minimizing the risk of the eggs being flushed out of the cave.

The clay tubes are handmade and shaped. Therefore, each one has different characteristics outside as well as inside. In each case, you will receive a unique piece.
