– as a shelter/hiding place for (juvenile) catfish or whoever else can find space under it

Failed attempts at firing – learned again how something does NOT work 😉 therefore these plates are cracked. However, for stacking caves or whatever you can think of, these heavy thick slabs are still very usable.
The crack can still go further and break the plate, this should definitely be taken into account when installing it in the tank.
