Description

AquaKeramik Spawning pipe Clay pipe Ø 15 mm for small witch catfish

round clay pipe approx. 11 cm long, Ø approx. 1.5 cm

With these mini pipes you offer some animals of the Rineloricaria and Hemiloricaria genera, the so-called witch catfish, an excellent hiding place. The small species use them as spawning burrows.

These pipes are also used for breeding loricariids. In small rearing boxes, such as the numerous variants of the hanging tank, they offer the offspring a possibility to retreat. These pipes are quickly and easily accepted by the young animals, which is a good way to support the animals during the time they are growing up.

Plants such as Anubias nana can also be easily attached to all clay pipes.

We use stoneware clay for the production of our clay articles, which can be highly fired and contains a varying proportion of fireclay depending on the product.

On the one hand, this makes our pipes very stable and durable. On the other hand, this means that the surfaces are never completely smooth, which provides an excellent basis for surface growth, which in turn is very readily grazed by catfish or shrimps.

This slightly rough surface of the cave also benefits the adhesive properties of most fish eggs without damaging the eggs.

The eggs adhere better to the cave wall, minimising the risk of the eggs being flushed out of the cave.

The clay pipes are handmade and shaped. Therefore, each one has different characteristics on the outside and inside. You will receive a unique specimen in each case.
