Clay discus spawning cone
for easier egg-laying of your discus females – with collecting channel
Female discus need a slightly sloping surface for laying their eggs, which in the best case is slightly roughened. This can be produced very well with a spawning cone made of clay.
We use stoneware clay for the production of our clay articles, which can be high-fired and contains a varying proportion of fireclay depending on the product.
This results in a slightly rough surface that allows the eggs to adhere better.
The white clay forms a clear contrast to the colour of most discus fish and thus makes it easier for the larvae to swim towards the parents.
Our spawning cone can easily be heated on high for disinfection (boiled in water or in the oven).
This model has a groove at the bottom edge.
