Stone caves made of clay as a hiding place in an aquarium or terrarium

In a pottery in the Lower Rhine region near the Dutch border, we produce (almost) everything that keepers and ambitious breeders need in the way of ceramics for their hobby.

We started in the early 2000s as long-time aquarists with the "standard caves" for L-catfish for our own breeding facility, at that time in only 2 colours black and terracotta. With the different L-catfish species in our tanks, the need for different cave shapes and sizes grew in order to generate breeding success. This resulted in a number of special cave shapes that met the requirements of specific species.

The range continued to grow so that cichlid keepers and breeders also found what they were looking for and the demand for other accessories could also be met.

Stone replicas for aquarium and terrarium inhabitants

Of course, something like this already exists, usually made of synthetic resin or plastic. Like all our caves, our stone cave hideouts are made from natural clay and are handmade in our own workshop.

We have collected real stones of different sizes and shapes and made moulds from them to create a variety of hiding places for you. This selection of different shapes combined with the variety of different clays in different colours allows us to create unique stone caves.

The basic shape of each model may be similar due to the mould, but there can never be identical pieces, as the inputs are worked in by hand without a mould. You will always get a unique piece!

We only use solid-coloured clay, i.e. even if a piece should break off, it will no longer be visible in the aquarium after a while. With some clay caves available on the market, the surface is painted with clay colour, while the clay underneath is usually terracotta-coloured, which can then be clearly seen. We do not paint our clay caves, so the inside of AquaKeramik and ARGIDO products is always the same colour as the outside.

Another unique feature is the ability to fulfil your special requests when designing the entrance openings. The short distances here in production make this possible. Depending on the capacity utilisation of the workshop, it may take a few days longer, but you will get the cave you want.

Our stone caves are suitable for both aquariums and terrariums. Anyone who keeps rodents will quickly appreciate the durability of the material. Nothing can be nibbled away, not even the most stubborn hamster can manage that.
